A great taste of Korean food! The Korean food was a little bit hidden near the back few pages of the menu & I am glad friends told me about that. Food was delicious here

My family lives in Kalamazoo and I used to look forward to eating here every time I visited, but after my experience today, I will no longer be going back. To preface, I've come here 10+ times over the last few years, and I've been incredibly satisfied with my meal (would have rated 5 stars). Today was the first time back in a few months, and things are drastically different now. My favorite was the Chirashi bowl, which had lots of fresh fish, well-cooked rice, and great value. Today's Chirashi had half of the fish as my previous orders β the photo with 1 bowl is from today, and the photo with 3 bowls is from the last time I went. As you can see, instead of 4 pieces of most fish, there were only 2 pieces of each kind today. The fish was noticeably old as well (the smell/texture of the tuna was sketchy), and the rice also tasted stale. In addition to the shrinkflation of this particular dish, we noticed that there was a 3% upcharge on the entire bill that was not mentioned before we sat down, so it got more expensive for less food and lower quality. I would have happily paid the 3% if the quality had remained the same, but alas, it was much worse. Other aspects of the restaurant

One of my favorite sushi places in town. Hands down. The restaurant is small but it works for it. The outside looks fancy but inside, it is homey (in a good way). The food is utterly mouth watering. The waitstaff is always fun and impressive. We love one of their teas that has honey in it--chunks of honey at the bottom. It is sooo good. My daughter and I like to visit this restaurant after a facial and then have seaweed salad, wonton (not fried), a cupid roll, a crunch bomb roll, and the strawberry mochi ice cream (yes, dessert WITH dinner). I'm hungry again!

Wanting to try someplace different I ordered takeout. They were busy on a Saturday afternoon when I came to pick up my order. I somehow managed to keep my order reasonable with just a yellowtail roll, spicy salmon, shrimp tempura and avocado roll and a couple orders of mackerel. I liked that I could get a couple of my go to rolls combined into one. All the fish tasted fresh and the rolls were not rice heavy. The mackerel was was good too, some of the best I've had in awhile. Miso soup was good, not sowe salty or bland. I'm interested in trying some of their cooked dishes next time.

We had a great dinner at Toba on a Saturday evening. The portions were large, much more food than we expected! The miso soup was hot and full of flavor. The sushi rolls were huge! We would eat here again, next time possibly trying the burrito I saw another table get.
